The Wedding Planning Series #5 Venue Visiting: Rosteague. A Hedgemaze Heavy Post.

I can't actually type eloquently enough to express how excited I was this morning. It's all well and good building Pinterest boards and writing to you all about my wedding, but actually visiting the place that I hope to hold my wedding and having proper grown up adult discussions about it, was the key to actually feeling like shouting in your faces; 'I'm going to get married you guys!'

I wanted to look relatively put together- hair brushing aside. So I wore this pretty vintage tea dress that I got in a charity shop some years back. Due to this, I also only took my denim jacket. BIG MISTAKE.

The main gardens. Hedgemaze extravaganza!

Located between St Austell and Truro, Rosteague is only 17 miles from our house and takes roughly about half an hour to get there. Unfortunately for us, we got stuck behind an emmit (tourist) on the way which made us late! What a terrible first impression and I hate being late! Luckily, the lovely lady showing us around, Emily, was more than understanding as I flailed out of the car screeching 'I'm so sorry!'.  The private road taking us up to the main house, must be about half a mile, and even then I was already set that 'this is the place for us.' The Milton family are the owners of the estate and have kept it beautiful in the 10 years they've been there. Before them, it was in the family for 60 years! Imagine that! I'd never let this place go! Quite a private family, the main house is no longer available for events, but that suited us as we're planning a very much outdoor wedding, and as we were shown around the grounds, I absolutely fell in love with the french style gardens and features. Viewing the thatched summer house, it got the official Harps seal of approval, whilst I just lapped everything up- eyes glistening. The bridal suite is beautifully quaint, traditional English style and the views are just breathtaking. (Can you tell that I like it?)

More hedgemaze love.

Just so pretty!

Amazing right? I think to me, this place is my perfect venue. It reminds me of a place crossed between Alice in Wonderland and The Secret Garden, both places of my dreams. Harps is pretty outdoorsy and he agreed it really does just have everything. As the weather started to cloud over, we finished our tour and Emily offered us a route to go and check out the three (YES THREE) private beaches. As we started to walk though this scenic meadow- the heavens opened. Like smashed our faces in, opened. I was still on a fancy garden high and proceeded to grin like a cheshire cat (see what I did there?) and proclaim that 'it's fine'...Whilst a sodden Harpy looked rather unsure.

Harps did offer me his jacket by the way, but I was too excited to care.

Excited to the absolute max.

So we waved goodbye to Rosteague, excited and nattering about weddings, weather and hedgemazes.  What do you all think?! Could you imagine me getting married here? All feedback will be appreciated greatly!

The Reading Tag.

1. Do you have a certain place for reading at home? I'd Probably sit outside on the grass or beach when I read if the weather always permitted. Alas, I live in Cornwall and it does not.  I've also got a spare room (dining room) that when we moved in, we decided would be my reading room. Like one of those fancy places that you see on Pinterest or on inspirational quotes? I still haven't got round to crafting my snug perfection so I tend to read on the sofa, in the bath (VERY CAREFULLY) or in bed.

2. Bookmark or random piece of paper? I usually use a bookmark that Harps and I received as stocking fillers one Christmas, but to be honest it bends the pages slightly that I'm on the look out for a nice new one. I might knit one?

3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter or certain number of pages? The sort of soviet Russia books that I seem to be reading a lot of these days, can go almost 50 pages without a new chapter, so I'm slowly adjusting to finishing at the end of a page and then re-capping quickly when I pick it back up.

 4. Do you eat or drink when reading? I'm pretty much a shark and always have some form of liquid around me. Seriously guys, I drink so much every day. Reading time usually involves a cup of tea and some cake or biscuits (of course) but I've perfected the knee book holder position to ensure I don't get my books all crumby!

5. Do you watch TV or listen to music when reading? Not out of choice. I'd much rather read in a nice quiet space but Harps also enjoys a good book and he can't read without background noise, so we usually have the iPod on or a bit of Classic Fm...Yes we're that cultured and amazing.

6. One book at a time or several at once?  One at a time.  I have and sometimes still do read more than one book at once, but purely out of disinterest for the first book. I read pretty quickly though, so I'm much more likely to just hurry through the boring book and start a new one. It's even rarer that I won't finish a book, even if I'm not enjoying it.

7. Reading at home or everywhere? Anywhere and everywhere. I sometimes walk to work reading my book. Luckily I know the route like the back of my hand. I don't really read at work anymore, probably more-so to give my eyes a rest from staring at a screen all day. Most likely at home.

8. Reading out loud or silently in your head? Usually in my head. I say usually because if there are certain parts that I just love, either the story or the way that it's written, I have to share it. Usually with Harps but sometimes I write quotes etc down. I think it's nice to have beautiful words kept.

9. Do you ever read ahead or skip pages? Only a couple of times. I'm much more likely to skim read the boring parts. I recently read a book that described 'string theory' and I had to read backwards and forwards and fucking everywhere in that book to understand it!

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it new? Seriously, do you want me to break-a-your-face?

11. Do you write in your books? I think I have twice; once when I gifted a book to someone and wanted them to have a little personal message to remember me by. And secondly, when I drew a penis on an illustration of a man in a science book. Sorry about that.

12. What are you currently reading? Starting a spot of Dickens. I have a newer copy of "A Tale of Two Cities" but I much prefer this newer one! Isn't it beautiful?

That was fun. I love reading! Let me know if you're doing the tag by posting in the comments below!

The Wedding Planning Series #4 The Groom.

All images and their sources can be found through my Pinterest page: /maybeonedaysoon.

Harps and I are OFFICIALLY on holiday! Which means a day of lazing around, browsing Pinterest and gathering wedding plans. We're off because it's his 26th birthday on Sunday! Tomorrow we have friends coming over for a night of board games and drinking (and fingers crossed, BBQ!) We also are off on Monday to visit a couple of wedding venues! How exciting! I can't wait to tell you all about it! Inspired by this, I've started to drag Harps into the wedding planning process and wanted to share with you all a few ideas we've had so far. Harps (pictured centre) is quite possibly the most laid back person I have ever known. My mum calls him horizontal Harpy because of his casual outlook on life. One of the many reasons that I can't wait to marry him. Our wedding discussions have discovered three things:
 1) Harps wants bright coloured high tops.
 2) He doesn't want to wear braces.
 3) When else in life do you get to wear a bow tie without being a bit of a creep?

So, what do you think of our budding ideas so far? Do you have an opinion of bow ties vs neck ties? Patterned shirt and plain neckwear? Or plain shirt and patterned neckwear? Or a crazy colour clash of both? Whereas I'd opt for the casual pastels and polka dot attire, Harps wants to smack everyone in the face with colour? We plan for a happy mix of the both.

Planning a wedding yourself? Tell me all about it and lets spread wedding cheer around the place!

Thankful Thursday- A Big One...

You may remember a post I wrote for another thankful Thursday a few months back. It was about a visit to Little Harbour, a children's hospice local to me. Please if you didn't have a read then, check it out now quickly. I talked about the amazing, inspirational and heart warming place that it is; I also blubbed almost constantly whilst writing it. The aim of the game was to do some sort of fundraising for them, and after the visit it was set in stone. I am so very lucky to work for a company that encourages charitable work; so much so that they will match whatever I raise for a charity. Seems like a no brainer to getting involved right? So as you've seen me over the last few months, dressing as a bear and bucket collecting for CHICKS, helping out at a local fete for The Lowan Ward and hosting a poker tournament for Bosom Buddies UK. This time, my whole branch was getting involved! So many friends, family members and local bakeries helped us produce the most amazing cake stall and we all headed down to Porthpean Education Centre for a super duper family fun day! Thank you to every single person that supported us, baked their little hearts out and came along for the fun. Here's some of my favourite photos of the day!

We also had pin the tail on the donkey...but it was rubbish and only two people played all day..

I made some snazzy peanut butter brownies, courtesy of Lisette.

Our official branch mascot- Lola.

Look at all the lovely cakes!

The fanciest cakes made! Froggies!

Some delicious black forest cupcakes.

SNOW CONES!

Sasha and I. Another branches mascot and my good pal :-)

Sasha getting fondled at the dog show.

I escaped to go on the bouncy castle JUST as my mum arrived and caught me in the act. Sorry to everyone that saw my panties.

Aaah end of the day and almost sold out.

Thank you Lisette and Leona for inspiring me to be more thankful.
Really couldn't be more thankful.

Weird & Wonderful News Wednesday #21 The Batman Diaries #4- My Weird Rabbit.

Hello there Wednesday Superstars! How are we all this fine week? I have been so super duper busy (more on that tomorrow) which just means that I haven't caught up on the news for like the third week in a row- sozages people. Everyone prefers a Batman post anyway...

When I first became Batman's owner soulmate best friend, I was surprised from early on what a personality he had. Over the last 18 months of being a bunny fanatic, I've watched my little guy grow and change as we become closer. Rabbits don't give up their love easily. After the early months of chasing him around, arms flailing, shouting "Just love me will you!?" I quickly (well, not so quickly) realised that it just wasn't going to happen. I worried, that Batman would never show me the love that I have devoted to him and I panicked that Harps would become the favourite (over my dead body!) Fast forward 18 months later and my little bun and I are smitten. I know when he's in the mood for strokes, when he wants to watch films with us on his own little screen, when he wants to play fetch and when he's up for a few bunny kisses (the best kisses in the world-fact.) I also know when he's grumpy because the hoover woke him up or when he doesn't want to play with me, and instead would rather pretend that he's a super-speed-machine. It's all about getting to know each other. So if you're thinking of getting a bunny and want a pet that will sit on your lap for ages and immediately love you- think again at getting one. If you want a best friend, who'll make you laugh CONSTANTLY and a pet to build a friendship with- go for it.

It is on that note that I wanted to share a few of Batman's weirdest and most wonderful little quirks. Happy Wednesday folks...

"Just rolling this toilet paper around..and then standing on it for authority."

"Just chilling out in your tea tray even though it's practically vertical and my claws are falling out, trying to hold on..."

"Just gonna climb over these shoes guys, to get to...Oh wait..."

"Just gonna look out the window with this curtain over me."

"Oh hey guys! Just here to supervise your toilet visits. Thinking of unrolling some of this toilet paper ok?"

"Hey guys! Just gonna sit with my face on this table leg and hold it still for you."

.."Hey guys! Just trying out my new tube. Got a bit panicked at the end there. Don't show people that bit will you?"

What is everyone's plans for the rest of the week? I cannot wait for Friday when I am on HOLIDAY for a few days and can catch up on sleep, on all of your lovely blog posts and partaaaayyy for Harp's birthday. Also we're hopefully going to look at a couple of wedding venues *squeals*.

Until then, see you tomorrow.
