Batman Diaries #11 Batman At Christmas.

Batman has grown to love Christmas. This being his third one, he revels in the papers to chew, tree to play with and attention he gets. It's the only time of year he stays a little bit more still to be able to take photos. It's almost as if he's in awe of the tree; glittering and glowing in an evening. He has his own little stocking that hangs on his hammock but really he's more interested in pine cones (I keep a few at the bottom of the tree for him to play with) and opening his presents (and everyone else's) before the big day.

Merry Christmas

Batman Diaries #10 In Sickness & In Health.

It can be pretty hard to tell when your completely black, unable to sit still and horribly fidgety rabbit isn't quite right. I think the main thing that fellow pet owners would agree on when your pet's sick is a change in their behaviour. Batman is usually pretty upbeat, leaping across the sofas and lapping around the room. Basically, when he stays still for long periods of time and you can't hear him snoring loudly, there's something wrong. He was eating, drinking and pooping just fine but we noticed that he wasn't putting any pressure on his back leg, holding it close to his body and walking instead of running. After a day of resting in his hutch, limiting his movement, things still weren't right. Time for a trip to the vets.

At almost three, Batman has only been to the vets once before on dreaded "Ball-a-versary" and I was anxious about how he'd behave. Previously he's been prefect. right up until the vet handed him back to us stating "He's still pretty drowsy from the anaesthetic" He bit her. Sending Harps in and telling Batman I loved him, I'm ashamed to admit I stayed in the reception, tearing at the thought of the vet having to examine him and the pain it might cause ( I know this is really pathetic. Deal with it.) I heard whoops and laughs coming from the room and thought "What have they done?!" Turns out Batman felt well enough to leap from the scales onto the floor. A few minutes later they came out, prescribing Bats some pain killer in a little syringe, stating he'd probably pulled a muscle. He needed to rest. Now the first time Batman tried his medicine I was amazed at how well behaved he was. In hindsight it was more than likely down to being glad to get home. Every night after was like a military operation.

Soon Batman was back to normal, lounging on the bed and generally loving life since the heating has been on in the evenings. Batman loves snuggling in winter.

Batman Diaries #9 A Very Important Day.

Batman has had a life changing day. He's finally been outside in the garden! It's no secret that our little bun is actually a massive pain in the arse- stubborn as hell and no way was he ever going to let us get him in a little harness (and finding one small enough proved to be impossible!) He's more than happy to get into his little pet carrier though and we know how much he loves lounging in the sun through the window.

Finally we've found a little pen for him that was a) Affordable- most of the runs or pens we'd found had been really overpriced this scraped in at just under £30! b) Very safe- Of course any sort of harm coming to my bun was number one priority but this pen comes with a half netted/ half shaded cover for sneaky birds and cats from above, pegs into the ground so that little Batman can't squirm his way out into harm and is really the perfect height and diameter for him to have a nice run around without being vulnerable. c) Super easy use- It literally took us less than five minutes to put it up and take it down after Batman was finished frolicking- remember not to keep little buns out in the sun for too long! Especially if they're a bit weird like Batman and don't like to go in the shade much.

After a while of trying to convince Batman to use the door of his new pen, we ended up putting his whole carrier in the pen so he still had a familiar place to run back into and could come out in his own time. He was pretty unsure for a while...

New found freedom! Eventually he emerged, stretching and sniffing, sneaking and stalking little bugs and blades of grass.

Settling down for a snack and some sunshine.

Do any of you have any tips for keeping small pets safe outside? Whether it be cooling down tips or fun ideas for buns in the sun? This summer is going to be much more exciting for our little Batman. He really did love his first time outside!

Batman Diaries #8 Batman's Ready For Summer.

Let's all cheer for Batman's malt being over! Seriously he's in such a grump over the few weeks in spring that he sheds his winter coat. He's back to looking slick and quite frankly- handsome. Sunny weather brings out the best in Batman, who loves nothing more than a day of frolicking around the house, a few blueberries for good measure and afternoon sun on our bed gives him the perfect place for a little snooze and some play.

I'm finding that slowly he's becoming more affectionate. Batman's never liked being picked up- only a handful of times has he 'let' anyone hold him. He used to hate even being stroked for too long, preferring to run in circles as fast as he can. Now though, coming out of his rabbit 'teens' there are days where he prefers to snuggle, give kisses and be fussed over. He's gained a trust that means even when he's playing, he rarely uses his claws.

Despite him completely dominating our house and having complete control of both of us, summer really does make him happier and this year we've bought him an outside pen to play in, we've got a whole new adventure to plan for.

Batman Diaries #7 Batman in Winter.

Here's Batman just casually sitting down to update his diary. He actually really does love sitting in front of the screen, watching what I'm doing. I'll leave the room, come back and he'll have typed some illegible sentence on a blog post or clicked on so many buttons that it takes me five minutes just to close down all the pages he's opened!

Batman gets pretty lazy in Winter. The days where the sun is shining he finds himself a spot and sleeps for hours. On the days where it isn't he usually pops himself at the end of the bed and sits, watching the tv or playing with the duvet cover.
Fullest in fur and probably at his grumpiest, Batman feels exactly the same as I do in willing spring to arrive. Soon he'll be needing endless brushes and will be clogging up every available surface with his whispy hairs. I've been collecting them for a while now with the long term plan of giving them all to my friend Stacie to use as wool. Super eco friendly Batman!

And then every now and then, that cute little face doesn't just look like a black ball of wool and you catch a glimpse of his little grey bits and those cutie pie brown eyes...I might be biased.

Batman Diaries #6 Confessions.

Blah blah blah "We all love Batman, he's so cute! You should post more about him." Sound familiar? Well tough titties because he's not all sunshine and rainbows you know? Batman can be a little shit. There I said it. As an ode to my return from my blogging absence I thought it was about time that you all learnt a little about Batman's really fucking annoying habits.

Six Reasons Batman's a Little Shit.

1) He chewed through my laptop cable. Sneakily, over time...so much time that I wasn't totally expecting the day when I all of a sudden was cut off from the world.

2) Sometimes he's a pain in the arse to get to bed at night. He knows exactly our routine and he has his own routine and if for some reason we go to bed earlier/later than usual he just refuses to go home. Point blank. It's taken as long as 45 minutes before just to get him into the next room.

3) He malts like a small dog. Seriously, despite being brushed many times a week when malting he just seems to get little black, fluffy hairs EVERYWHERE.

4) He snores REALLY loudly. Louder than a cat would snore. Like a small, wheezing old man. At least you always know where he is I guess?

5) He scares himself on a regular basis. Be it sleeping right on the edge of the stairs/bed and then rolling over and falling down or maybe when he tries to jump off of the top of the sofa and completely underestimates it, flying into the table, it amazes me every single day that he doesn't kill himself. Most of the time he'll thump around the house for hours afterwards and you're like "You did this to yourself crazy rabbit!"

6) He uses my face as a landing pad. If he's on the back of the sofa and I'm lying on it, he likes to nuzzle into my hair, but if I'm lying down too low for him to reach it then in revenge he'll use my face to get back off the sofa, like a sort of cushioned landing pad.

Of course bunny owning is fabulous and every one should have a characteristic little furry friend of some kind (with responsibility of course) and there are times *see below* where he's utterly adorable. Tell me about your pets bad habits or annoying traits, I'd love to hear them!

Batman Diaries #5 Batman Turns Two.

Every photo of Batman seems to have food in it. I'm pretty sure that's the only way I can get him to stay still long enough. How do all those internet genius's get their rabbits to wear little outfits etc? Batman's far too streetwise for that! He knows when I'm within 5 metres!! He has had a lovely Christmas and enjoyed his birthday (two years old December 19th!) On the 15th it'll be two years that we came into each others lives and I'm excited! I'm going to get him a few bits from his buddies over at Barks and Bunnies who are also having a fabulous sale at the moment! With a great level of service and original, fun toys  (It's where I got his Bat-castle from!) and goodies for Batman he'll be a lifelong customer. You should all take a look on their website and if you sign up by clicking here, you'll get 10% off your first purchase over £20!

Do you guys get bit creepy when it comes to your pet's birthdays? Or are you even as sad as me and celebrate your anniversary with your pet? Let me know so I don't feel so weird!

Weird & Wonderful News Wednesday #21 The Batman Diaries #4- My Weird Rabbit.

Hello there Wednesday Superstars! How are we all this fine week? I have been so super duper busy (more on that tomorrow) which just means that I haven't caught up on the news for like the third week in a row- sozages people. Everyone prefers a Batman post anyway...

When I first became Batman's owner soulmate best friend, I was surprised from early on what a personality he had. Over the last 18 months of being a bunny fanatic, I've watched my little guy grow and change as we become closer. Rabbits don't give up their love easily. After the early months of chasing him around, arms flailing, shouting "Just love me will you!?" I quickly (well, not so quickly) realised that it just wasn't going to happen. I worried, that Batman would never show me the love that I have devoted to him and I panicked that Harps would become the favourite (over my dead body!) Fast forward 18 months later and my little bun and I are smitten. I know when he's in the mood for strokes, when he wants to watch films with us on his own little screen, when he wants to play fetch and when he's up for a few bunny kisses (the best kisses in the world-fact.) I also know when he's grumpy because the hoover woke him up or when he doesn't want to play with me, and instead would rather pretend that he's a super-speed-machine. It's all about getting to know each other. So if you're thinking of getting a bunny and want a pet that will sit on your lap for ages and immediately love you- think again at getting one. If you want a best friend, who'll make you laugh CONSTANTLY and a pet to build a friendship with- go for it.

It is on that note that I wanted to share a few of Batman's weirdest and most wonderful little quirks. Happy Wednesday folks...

"Just rolling this toilet paper around..and then standing on it for authority."

"Just chilling out in your tea tray even though it's practically vertical and my claws are falling out, trying to hold on..."

"Just gonna climb over these shoes guys, to get to...Oh wait..."

"Just gonna look out the window with this curtain over me."

"Oh hey guys! Just here to supervise your toilet visits. Thinking of unrolling some of this toilet paper ok?"

"Hey guys! Just gonna sit with my face on this table leg and hold it still for you."

.."Hey guys! Just trying out my new tube. Got a bit panicked at the end there. Don't show people that bit will you?"

What is everyone's plans for the rest of the week? I cannot wait for Friday when I am on HOLIDAY for a few days and can catch up on sleep, on all of your lovely blog posts and partaaaayyy for Harp's birthday. Also we're hopefully going to look at a couple of wedding venues *squeals*.

Until then, see you tomorrow.

Batman Diaries #3 Meeting Pops. *With Strong Language*

Wassup Bitches! (Oh Batman, you have such a potty mouth!). Last week I got taken to the nail bar to chill with ma homeboys and get a manicure- ya know what I'm saying? (It appears though Batman has turned rather street.) This babe came out, I remembered her, maybe from that bar last month, maybe from that strip joint I was caught in the other year. She grabbed me in a way I like (far too much information Batman) and made ma nails all trimmed and badass. (Batman makes a terrible street-hooligan by the way.)

Then, suddenly this old fella gets brought to ma yard (...box) and this bitch is telling me he's ma pops. I'm telling them all, I ain't seen him since I was born, he ran out on my ma and left me and my hoe sister, Precious (Don't call her a hoe Batman, she's dead!). Gotta say mannnn, some shit's going down here for them to bring him out. He told me to wise up, stop acting the fool I am and chewing door frames, get ma act together and start a family. I told him "But pa, these fools had ma nuts removed". Then he bitch slapped me and said "You ain't no son of mine boy! I'm too old for this shit." And I was all like; "Ma nails look fly, lets bust out of this joint."

Crazy shit man.

So they finish off their bizz and we get rollin back to my crib. Ya'll know they got me a little summin summin for being such a creepy sick pimp. (you've been watching too much Joey Essex Batman. He is NOT gangster.)

Peace. (Oh dear)
Batz....(You're called Batman, idiot.)

Batman Diaries #1

A day in the life of Batman is pretty pretty hard to beat. He loves routine, and though he isn't the cuddliest of pets, I'm here to convince you that a Netherland dwarf rabbit could be perfect for you! *Please excuse the morning photos and my face in them*.

Batman is a house rabbit. During the day he roams free, usually hanging out pretty close to wherever we are at the time. If one of us is home alone, he tends to be more cuddly, but you can usually either find him staring at himself in the mirror, sitting on his hammock or sleeping in the sunshine. Like me he feels the cold and during the winter he's most likely under the radiator or on the sofa. Usually he'll come upstairs and have some greens whilst I have a cup of tea and watch Jeremy Kyle, then he'll go and find a spot for a snooze. Don't let this fool you though, Netherland dwarf rabbits are CRAZY! He runs faster than most medium sized dogs and he loves a bit of a drift around corners and hurdling obstacles. Having lots of time to run is important for his legs and he takes full frolic advantage when he can *I may or may not currently be building bunny hurdles*. Check out how malty he gets! He had a good ol comb after this was taken!

He's pretty sneaky too. He likes to challenge himself to get to new places. See Harp's bedside table above. He spends a lot of time balancing on the back of the sofas, he's climbed up the stereo before and tried to jump into the bath once as well.  When we're downstairs we keep him with us using a makeshift door (applaud Harps for the sewing, not me) and he's pretty keen to get upstairs all the time so he jumps up on two legs. Isn't he a cutie?! And though his hutch is pimpin, he has so much fun that we have to herd him home on a nightly basis.

It's taken about a year and a bit for Batman to become affectionate, he ain't giving that love to just nobody! But now he comes and sits on my lap for strokes, runs up to us when the other one gets home from work, kisses me on the nose (if you haven't had a bunny kiss then you haven't felt absolute joy!) and even licks my face sometimes. (Probably pretty gross, but if you think it's gross and not adorable then I'm sorry but we can't be friends). Overall, I adore my crazy, fussy and sneaky bunny rabbit. He's become a best friend.
